Useful output
takes supervision.
What working with AI has taught me about continuity, corrections and deciding when something is actually finished.
How I work with AI ↗I build useful software, make a little music, and follow interesting problems further than I probably should.
Notes from a productive semi-retirement. The work, the wrong turns, and the things worth sharing.

I’m making custom songs and videos for our Countrytyme listings. Here’s how they come together, what they cost, and what I’m adding to the marketing.

How I work with AI ↗AI Models all have different capabilities and create different output. Being flexible and making my toolkit usable across any model has greatly kept me from being restricted when a model decides to be stubborn.
Hermes, OpenClaw, Codex, Claude Code, these all sit on top of my toolkit and share a common brain. My learning is not held hostage by a subscription much to the chagrin of ChatGPT and Claude.

A productive conversation with AI should leave something useful behind. Guru is my working personal memory system, built to carry decisions, research, and corrections into the next task.
The difficult part is deciding what deserves to stay—and whether it can be trusted when it comes back.
The Guru story ↗Independent of the commercial Guru platform. The local LLM and inference-engine exploration was inspired by Charles Sullivan’s ai-research.

Sometimes it needs a beat. Or a ridiculous character. Or a beach. Music is another part of my workshop, with room for humor, storytelling, and the occasional unexpected frontman.
Pale Boy in Paradise is a tropical hip-hop experiment. Tofu has a few other lives, too.

Music experiments in progress · Made with AI, shaped by human taste.

A quiet lakeshore. A moonlit grove. An intricate tangle of flowers and bees. Image generation lets me explore very different visual worlds.
The work is in the choices: the mood, the composition, the details that belong, and the ones that don’t. A striking image is a beginning. Making it serve a story takes more judgment.
Illustrated stories & publishing ↗Inside the Ghostwriter project →Selected generated artwork from my creative collection. Display previews.
ARTWORK STUDIES / FROM THE WORKSHOPThe screen is only the beginning. Workshop software has to make sense around real material, tools, fixtures, and the computers people actually use.
Maker Library helps me find and inspect designs. ForgeCAM explores a more guided path toward CNC preparation. A convincing preview still has to earn its place at the machine.
The ForgeCAM story ↗Artwork concepts shown, not finished carvings. Physical-machine qualification remains. ForgeCAM builds on Grid.Space’s Kiri:Moto.
My wife, Katalin, taught me printmaking. She is incredibly beautiful and an amazing artist and printmaker. This work owes its beginning to her.
The printmaking project grew into a book draft—and a lesson in questioning confident explanations.
Inside the printmaking work ↗Working tools, stubborn problems, and ideas still earning their keep.
All project notes ↗After a career in enterprise technology and consulting, I stepped back. The urge to build didn’t.
My work has taken me across the United States and Europe. Switzerland stayed with me. So did the ocean.
Today I’m exploring AI, land tools, publishing, and the practical problems people actually have. I use AI extensively. Choosing what matters—and questioning whether it works—is still my responsibility.
I share the struggles and the useful results here. The stories should give you a feel for how I think, and whether I could help with something you’re working through.
Built with AI, directed and reviewed by me. Claude was my first AI collaborator and did substantial work across these projects. The collaboration is part of the story.
A process held together by spreadsheets. Software that almost fits. An AI idea that needs a reality check. Tell me where it gets stuck.
